Pop-ups for Likes/Dislikes for NPCs

Update

2021/11/30

This bug was fixed in Patch 1.82.99
There are a few reports of people still seeing this. Please post here if you do: Getting Likes/Dislikes Pop ups for inactive households (Patch 1.90)

Problem

There’s constant messages if I want to accept a like/dislike for a Sim in my game. The problem is that those Sims aren’t part of my active household.

Cause

The root of this bug is unclear but it seems to happen to players that play multiple families rotationally.

Sim have a LOD (level of detail), meaning how much info is available for them at any given time. Only Sims in your active household are supposed to be FULL detail and should be getting the messages. The game fails to set that level correctly for some reason which leads to the issue.

Solution

There’s currently no solution but the pop-ups should be getting less if over time if you just accept them. You can remove them in CAS later when you play that family again. It’s not a great solution but not as annoying.

Basemental’s basemental.fix_likesdislikes Mod allows you to set all the LODs of your Sims to the correct level. You should then no longer get messages for NPCs.

Do the following steps to use the cheat console

  1. Open the cheat console with ctl-shift-c
  2. Enter the cheat you need in the entry box which appeared in the upper left corner of your screen.
  3. Hit ENTER
  4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 for every necessary cheat.
  5. After entering all needed cheats, close the cheat console with ctl-shift-c

Instructions

  1. Copy the mod to your mods folder and make sure script mods are enabled.
  2. Open the cheat console and type: basemental.fix_likesdislikes
  3. Save your game
  4. Remove the mod.
