Blast From the Past Event

You can find a method below on how to successfully finish the event and avoid the problems. This should also work if you already started and experience issues.

Avoid saving until the GUI is fully loaded and don’t pause the game before or right after a loading screen

  1. Rename the folder Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4 to Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4_cur (or any other name you like). This folder now has all your mods and save games. Nothing is lost.
  2. Repair your game.
  3. Start the game. Your save games and settings will be gone.
  4. Start a new save game (don’t use scenarios)
  5. Create a new family or download an existing one from the gallery/library. I would recommend not to add infants/toddlers or pets. Also don’t play occults.
  6. Place your family on a regular residential lot.
  7. Play the event until you have everything claimed that you can for the first week. All rewards that you claim (except the potions and skill books that you have in your game anyways) will be saved to your account.
  8. Save your game and close it. You will need it again for the upcoming weeks.
  9. Rename the folder Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4 to Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4_Event and Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4_cur to Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4
  10. Start the game. You will now have your usual game back including all your mods.
  11. Rename your folders back again next week to continue with the event:
    • Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4 to Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4_cur
    • Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4_Event to Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4

Each week there will be quests in live mode to solve that give you event points that you can exchange for the rewards. You will time travel.

There are two quests each week consisting of several tasks but you do one after the other and not both at the same time.

Steps

Make sure you login with the correct account and play online so that the rewards can be properly tied to your account.

Start a new save game or continue with an existing one in live mode.

Once in live mode you will get a pop up to start with your first quests. To access the event screen click on the event symbol in live mode.

You’ll be collecting event points by finishing quests and goals. More event points mean more rewards.

The event screen which can be accessed through the main menu or live mode lets you exchange points for rewards. Choose Claim to get them.

Claimed rewards will then appear in build mode, CAS or in the inventory of your Sim depending on the type.

During 4 weeks you will get new quests that you can finish. You also have extra weeks if something more important comes up.

The event is now live

If you still not see it, try these troubleshooting steps

If you don’t want to play the event and can’t ignore the icon in the game, there is a way to turn it off. You will also loose access to the gallery this way though.

  1. Start the game
  2. Open the game options and choose the tab Other
  3. Remove the check mark next to Online Social Feature Access.
  4. Save your change and close the game.
  5. Move the file Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\accountDataDB.package to the desktop
  6. Start the game. A new accountDataDB.package file is being generated and the event should no longer be visible.
  7. If everything looks fine, you can then delete accountDataDB.package.

If you want to use the gallery, turn the option back on and when you’re done, repeat the same steps to get rid of the event again.

Event points are a limited-time measurement for this specific event. You can exchange them for rewards as soon as you collect enough points.

Each quest gives a certain amount of event points. You can check the tool tip of the quest to see how many.

Any points that you didn’t redeem will expire once the event is over.

All the items can be found by searching by name or by filtering for Event in build mode or CAS.

Yes. This event saves your rewards to your account. The rewards will be in your game even if you reinstall or rename the user folder.

The only condition is that you play online while you claim the rewards and that you login with the same account you got them on.

Consumable rewards are rewards that help you advance in the tasks. You get for example skill books (that you can also buy through the bookcase) or potions to put your Sim in a certain mood, Simoleons and Satisfaction points.

You will only get consumable rewards for the played household.

There is a household collection: Milk Cartons

It’s currently unclear if there are any pack specific tasks.

A Strange Visitor

There are 7 tasks to solve. You do them one after the other and I suggest doing them in order and not jumping ahead and doing something else so you don’t mess up the quest

The game things that all tasks have been done and the quests/plumbobs no longer show although the tasks aren’t marked as done properly.

Cause

The cause is unclear. There’s a possibility that this has something to do with pausing the game before or shortly after a loading screen.

Solution

There’s currently no solution but you can try the following things.

  • Move the file Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4>accountDataDB.package to the desktop The Happy Home Login Event rewards have been moved to base game. You don’t have to fear loosing them.
  • Start a new save game and see if it works there.
  • Be patient while loading the game. Wait a but until the GUI has fully loaded.
  • Don’t pause the game before and shorty after a loading screen.

Cause

Some introduction type that came with packs don’t count.

Solution

Use the standard introduction. Use a different Sim to check of the task.

Cause

The issue is probably caused by MCCC or another mod

Solution

Always do events on a new save with no mods/cc.
