Issues with Rebirth

Problem

My Sim completed the Soul’s Journey but the rebirth doesn’t work. I get either of the following symptoms.

Case 1

The Sim gets into the bug and just disappears. I can’t pick a household and I’m not being taken to CAS.

Case 2

I completed the Soul’s Journey but the option on the bog is grayed out saying I didn’t reach the Dreams Fulfilled tier.

Case 3

The Sim is being reborn a second time. This doesn’t work. I see the same symptoms as case

The Sim is a werewolf.

Cause

Causes are different depending on the cause.

Case 1

Some traits lead to issues, especially those that are connected to relationships. An error occurs and the rebirth process is canceled, leaving the game stranded.

Case 2

The cause why this happens is unclear but the Sim is missing an important trait.

Case 3

Unclear. Possibly same cause as 1. Please post here if you have this: [LD] Rebirth doesn’t work

Case 4

Unclear of the trait is the issue. Please post here if you have issues with a werewolf: [LD] Rebirth doesn’t work
 

Solution

Case 1 isn’t actually as bad as it sounds. You can’t choose age and traits for your infant as the CAS part is missing but you can find the infant in the household manager, ready to be placed into a household.

I didn’t test this in detail but the infant had all necessary traits and milestones once added to a household.

Do remove the problem traits before trying the rebirth via cheat/mod. Details below.

Console players can use these cheats as well as you don’t need testingcheats. Do cancel if you get a message that your trophies/achievements are being disabled.

Do the following steps to use the cheat console

  1. Open the cheat console with ctl-shift-c
  2. Enter the cheat you need in the entry box which appeared in the upper left corner of your screen.
  3. Hit ENTER
  4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 for every necessary cheat.
  5. After entering all needed cheats, close the cheat console with ctl-shift-c

Case 1

The following traits cause issues and need to be removed before the rebirth.

  • Untroubled (traits.remove_trait untroubled)
  • Romantic Sage (traits.remove_trait RomanticSage)
  • Affection Aficionado (traits.remove_trait love_Poly)
  • Beloved (traits.remove_trait trait_Legendary)

Case 2

Add the following trait to your Sim:

  • traits.equip_trait trait_MovingOn_Hidden_DreamsFulfilled

Case 3 & Case 4

Currently unclear if these are additional issues.

Use a mod instead of cheats to get rid of the traits (ex. MC Command Center, Sim Info Manager).

Case 1

The following traits cause issues and need to be removed before the rebirth.

  • Untroubled
  • Romantic Sage
  • Affection Aficionado
  • Beloved

Case 2

Add the following trait to your Sim:

  • trait_MovingOn_Hidden_DreamsFulfilled

Case 3 & Case 4

Currently unclear if these are additional issues.
