Reaper’s Rewards Event

There are currently some issues with the event. Some are caused by mods, others are game issues and some are unclear what’s causing them.

You can find a method below on how to successfully finish the first week and avoid the problems. This should also work if you already started and experience issues.

Avoid saving until the GUI is fully loaded and don’t pause the game before or right after a loading screen

  1. Rename the folder Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4 to Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4_cur (or any other name you like). This folder now has all your mods and save games. Nothing is lost.
  2. Repair your game.
  3. Start the game. Your save games and settings will be gone.
  4. Start a new save game (don’t use scenarios)
  5. Create a new family or download an existing one from the gallery/library. I would recommend not to add infants/toddlers or pets.
  6. Place your family on a regular residential lot.
  7. Play the event until you have everything claimed that you can for the first week. All rewards that you claim (except the potions and skill books that you have in your game anyways) will be saved to your account.
  8. Save your game and close it. You will need it again for the upcoming weeks.
  9. Rename the folder Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4 to Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4_Event and Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4_cur to Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4
  10. Start the game. You will now have your usual game back including all your mods.
  11. Rename your folders back again next week to continue with the event:
    • Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4 to Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4_cur
    • Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4_Event to Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4

The second login event Reaper’s Rewards lasts from September, 24th to November, 19 2024 and you can get 13 free rewards for solving quests in the game. You are collecting event points that you can exchange for rewards.

This article contains a FAQ specifically for this event. You can find more general info here: Events

The second event is a bit more complicated and you need to spend some time in live mode to get your rewards. Each week there will be quests to solve that give you event points that you can exchange for the rewards. You will explore the secrets of ambrosia and learn how to cook it.

Steps

Make sure you login with the correct account and play online so that the rewards can be properly tied to your account.

Start a new save game or continue with an existing one in live mode. The rewards will not be tied to your save game but the progress in the quest is. You can of course make ambrosia again in any save though.

Rem: The event currently has issues and I recommend doing it as described in the box at the beginning.

Once in live mode you will get a pop up to start with your first quests. To access the event screen click on the event symbol in live mode.

You’ll be collecting event points by finishing quests and goals. More event points mean more rewards.

The event screen which can be accessed through the main menu or live mode lets you exchange points for rewards. Choose Claim to get them.

Note: You need to be in live mode to claim consumable rewards.

Claimed rewards will then appear in build mode, CAS or in the inventory of your Sim depending on the type.

During 6 weeks you will get two new quests per week that you can finish. You also have 2 extra weeks if something more important comes up.

The event will be live September, 24th

If you still not see it, try these troubleshooting steps

Event points are a limited-time measurement for this specific event. You can exchange them for rewards as soon as you collect enough points.

Each quest gives a certain amount of event points. You can check the tool tip of the quest to see how many.

Any points that you didn’t redeem will expire once the event is over.

There’s a new filter called Special > Event Rewards in both CAS and build mode.

CAS

Choose the correct CAS Part and filter by event rewards.

Build Mode

Filter by event rewards or search for the names.

You can also find all the freezer boney in build mode

Yes. This event saves your rewards to your account. The rewards will be in your game even if you reinstall or rename the user folder.

The only condition is that you play online while you claim the rewards and that you login with the same account you got them on.

Consumable rewards are rewards that help you advance in the tasks. In the first week for example you get skill books (that you can also buy through the bookcase) or potions to put your Sim in a certain mood.

You will only get consumable rewards for the played household.

There’s also a new household collection of Freezer Boneys. You won’t get these in another household but you can buy them in build mode (no cheat necessary) and place in a Sims inventory so they appear in that households collection.

Some of the task can be pack specific. You just won’t get them if you don’t own the pack. You can still collect enough points to finish the event.

There are 2 quests to solve in the first week.

  • A call away
  • Assistant to the Grim Reaper

Each quest consists of several tasks. You can switch between the quests by clicking on the plumbob

In the first week you can get the following rewards

  • Skill Book: Gardening, Vol 1 (consumable reward)
  • Original Freezer Boney (can be found in build mode afterwards)
  • Gramophon The Grimophone
  • Skill Book: Cooking, Vol 1 (consumable reward)
  • Earrings of Imminent Demise
  • Potion Energized
  • Lot Challenge: Scare Seeker
  • Potion Happy

I don’t want to get into the different tasks here. There are a few issues as described below.

  • Potion Fun

I don’t want to get into the different tasks here. There are a few issues as described below.

Problem

The game things that all tasks have been done and the quests/plumbobs no longer show although the tasks aren’t marked as done properly.

Cause

The cause is unclear. There’s a possibility that this has something to do with pausing the game before or shortly after a loading screen.

Solution

There’s currently no solution but you can try the following things.

  • Start a new save game and see if it works there.
  • Be patient while loading the game. Wait a but until the GUI has fully loaded.
  • Don’t pause the game before and shorty after a loading screen.
  • Move the file Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4>accountDataDB.package to the desktop The Happy Home Login Event rewards have been moved to base game. You don’t have to fear loosing them.

There are currently several reports of issues with newsletter tasks not being recognized.

It’s unclear if they are caused by mods or if they are game bugs but you can also try the method in the box above and/or try a new save game.

Problem

I already planted several snapdragons and lilies but the task is still not marked as done.

Cause

For most this is related to Better BuildBuy. The mod has a parts that are still active even after removing the mod like the Organized Debug.

There are other theories floating around though.

  • Plants that are not in season
  • Certain planters
  • Queuing the tasks back to back.

Solution

  • Turn off Organized Debug before if you are using the mod
  • If you don’t have the mod anymore, either reinstall and turn the option off, or repair your game.
  • Restart the game after this and see if the tasks are done. If not, try them again.

Update

This particular issue has been solved in Patch 1.109.207/2.00.

Problem

  • The list of tasks is empty from start
  • I did a few tasks and now the list is empty.

Cause

The cause is currently unclear but it’s probably connected to the game being paused before or shortly after a loading screen. or if it’s being save before the game had a chance to load the GUI. It’s also possible that certain events like the For Rent or Discover University ones bug out the game.

The problem can be expedited by mods like MC Command Center as they have mechanisms to pause the game under certain conditions. There’s other mods that do the same.

Solution

Currently the only solution is to remove the file Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4>accountDataDB.package. This is a bit problematic as the file also contains the rewards from Happy Home.

There are several methods that you can try (unfortunately not for console)

The easiest method is to use the one described at the beginning of this post. This should work.

You can recover the event rewards from Happy Home if you have a backup of usersetting.ini from before Patch 1.109.185/1.98 or a backup of accountDataDB.package from before the event. Remove the current accountDataDB.package from your user folder and copy back the backups. Certain progress from the Reaper’s Rewards that you’ve already done might also be already saved on your account and you can continue playing from there.

I would not delete anything but just move files. You can delete later when you have everything back. Also make backups somewhere safe before attempting.
