Events

Events are time limited experiences that should ‘sweeten’ the game by giving free rewards and gameplay.

I put together a short FAQ that hopefully answers the most important questions. I will update it during the coming weeks with new info.

Events are a new platform in the game that will make it easy to claim your rewards.

The first event Happy Home gives reward for starting the game. Later on events are planed that may give you a quest to do that you can explore.

More details can be found here: Events are Coming to The Sims 4.

Event are available for all platforms: PC (EA app, Epic Games, Steam), Mac (EA app, Origin), PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One

Nothing. The events are free for everyone

No, all events have been for base game.

There are quests for certain events that are pack specific. These are additional tasks that help you earn more points and end earlier. Those tasks are extra and are not required to get all rewards.

According to EA there’s plenty of time even if you come late.

The weekly cool downs don’t apply if you didn’t participate from the beginning unless you’re caught up.

The goal of the events is that you claim the rewards during the event and after that, you miss out. That’s the theory though as in practice, there’s already CC of the items out there and there are other workarounds to get the items anyways.

Happy Home Login event

The unlocked items are saved in the file Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\accountDataDB.packge. Because of this it’s very important that you backup this file. If you rename your user folder or play on a different computer you will not see the items. The file needs to be transferred to a new folder/computer because of this.

Items you have placed in your game already are still there if you remove the file. They aren’t being replaced. You can create copies of existing objects but they don’t show in the buy menu anymore. To place them from the buy menu they need to be unlocked.

The rewards were saved in the file Dokumente\Electronic Arts\Die Sims 4\userSettings(.ini) before Patch 1.109.185/1.98. If you have a backup from before that patch, you can use that file to get your rewards back too.

Future Events

For upcoming events the rewards will be saved to your account.

To make sure an issue isn’t mods/cc related, remove them all from your game and test without.

Always either start a new save to test or test on a backup of your save game. All CC will be removed from your save game.

  1. Open the following folder: Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4
  2. Select the folder Mods and right-click on Cut.
  3. Go to your desktop and right-click on Paste
  4. Delete all cache files (again)

There’s two layers to the event: Daily and weekly. If you unlocked the first three items, you will need to wait until the second week starts to claim the next one.

The timer at the bottom of the pop-up is a misleading.
